Ordeal by cheque
Lawrence Exeter and his girlfriend, Daisy Windsor, are overly excited for their new addition to the family. They are having a baby! While the couple are extremely happy, Lawrence knows he must shop for his new son. He drives to the baby shoppe and spends $148.50 on new clothes for his son. Lawrence spends $100 to Hollywood Hospital for the baby's check-up. The new baby is yet to be born and Lawrence must pay his doctor $475.00. The baby was born on October 3rd, 1903, healthy and happy. Lawrence and his Daisy were over joyed. Christmas is now right around the corner and Lawrence knows he must buy a great amount of toys for his son's first Christmas. He stops at the "California Toyland Company," and buys his son gifts. Lawrence Jr., Lawrences' son, is now 6 years old and his father enrolls him in Palisades School for boys. Being that Lawrence Jr.always does his chores, Lawrence Sr. buys a brand new bike for his son at the City Bicycle Co. In 1915, being that Lawrence Jr. fails all of his classes, his father spends $2,150 to send his son to Military Academy. In 1921, Lawrence Jr. comes home and his father surprises him with a cadillac. Lawrence Jr. was so surprised and took the new car out for a drive, but he got in a car crash. Lawrence Sr. had to pay $288.76 to Wilshire Auto Repair Service to get the car fixed. October rolls around, and Lawrence Jr. goes off to College. For Daisy's birthday, Lawrence Sr. buys plane tickets for them to go to france. When in France, Lawrence takes Daisy to a french clothing store, "Bangue de France," and spends $5,000 on new clothes for her. The couple leave France at the end of summer. Lawrence surprises Daisy with a beautiful bouqet of roses after a long arguement they had. During the summer of 1926, Lawrence and Daisy decide to buy a boat. Lawrence knows that Daisy is the one for him and decides to ask for her hand in marriage. He buys her a wedding ring at the "Beverly Diamond and Gift Shoppe,"and plans on proposing in Hawaii. So, Lawrence spends more money to to take a steamship to Hawaii for his romantic proposal. Daisy said yes and the couple couldnt be happier for their wedding. Lawrence and Daisy go home and start shopping for their big day. They pick out flowers and Lawrence purchases his wife's wedding gown. While all the excitment is going on, Lawrence Jr. has found a new girlfriend. Miss Flossie Wentworth. Lawrence Jr. is a sneak who is cheating on his wife with this women. He treats her like his princess by buying her chocolates, dresses, and jewlery. However, Lawrence Jr. has a bad drinking and gambling habit. He always finds himself spending money on beer at the bar "Tony Spagoni." Flossie finds out about this and leaves Lawrence Jr. Lawrence Jr. wins her back with flowers and promises to never touch a drop of beer again. Lawrence Jr, divorces his wife and asks Flossie to marry him. While all of this commotion is going on with the divorce, Lawrence Jr. finds himself drinking again at the bar. Lawrence Jr.'s father ends up in the hospital and dies of a heart attack on July 15th, 1931. Lawrence Jr. and Flossie are devastated and pays for his funeral.
